L.A. CLIPPERS WAIVE MARCIN GORTAT


The L.A. Clippers have waived center Marcin Gortat, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank. “We will miss the toughness Marcin brought to the group,” said Frank. “He was a tenacious defender and screen-setter, and we are grateful to have been a part of his long and distinguished career. Gortat, 34, appeared in 47 games in his lone season with the Clippers, averaging 5.0 points and 5.6 rebounds in 16.0 minutes. The 6’11” 240-pound center holds career averages of 9.9 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 25.7 minutes in 806 appearances across 12 NBA seasons with Orlando, Phoenix, Washington and L.A. A native of Poland, he was selected 57th overall by Phoenix in the 2005 NBA Draft and made his NBA debut for the Suns in 2007 following four professional seasons with the Rhein Stars Koeln of the German BBL league.
