IBF, WBO, WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Sergey Kovalev and 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist & former unified Super Middleweight Champion Andre Ward had their announcement press conference for their November 19th HBO PPV fight which will take place in Las Vegas Nevada at the new T-Mobile Arena. Neither guy is known to be much of a trash talker, so things at the presser went smoothly as most would expect. Or so we thought
Kovalev spoke with Boxing Scene, where he revealed that he was highly upset with Andre Ward over their first interaction prior to the presser beginning. Sergey says that he greeted Ward, and received no response in return.
"I respect him as a fighter and a person but I didn't like our confrontation this morning. He's a great fighter but I will show him no respect inside the ropes. When I saw him this morning I said hi, and he did't say nothing so f**k him. I will do all I can in the ring to kick his ass in November."
Hopefully this aggression from Kovalev outside the ring will help the fight garner the attention that it truly deserves.
