Premier Boxing Champions 8/12/16 Results

Tonight in the main event on PBC on ESPN; unbeaten featherweight prospect Miguel Flores won a unanimous decision over Ryan Kielczweski in an exciting fight at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. Judges scored the fight 97-93, and 96-94 (2x), all in favor of Flores.

Flores started on the attack early, throwing hard body shots, and controlling the fight. Flores seemed a lot quicker than the bigger Kielczweski, who didn’t throw much early on. In the middle rounds, Kielczweski seemed to get stronger and started to come forward and let his hands go, while Flores continued his work to the body. Kielczweski had some success landing big shots as Flores made the mistake of walking straight back. In the later rounds; it was back and forth, as Flores mixed up combinations to the body and head, and kielczweski continued to come forward and throw punches. Both fighters traded punches up until the final bell in an exciting fight that marked the end of the PBC on ESPN summer series. Flores stayed undefeated; improving to 21-0 (9 KO), and Ryan Kielczweski fell to 25-2 (7 KO).

In the co-main event; 2008 Beijing Olympic Cuban bronze medalist Yordenis Ugas handed welterweight contender Jamal James his first loss via unanimous decision. The judges scored the fight 99-91, 98-92, and 96-4, all in favor of Ugas. James was a late replacement for undefeated welterweight Bryant Perella; who was forced to withdraw due to a thumb injury. It was Ugas’ first fight in 2 years and 3 months, and Jamal James last fought last month on the undercard of the heavyweight title fight between Deontay Wilder and Chris Arreola. Ugas controlled the first half of the fight, getting inside and working the body as James chose to fight in close instead of using his height and reach advantage. James was wobbled at the end of round 3, and his mouthpiece was knocked out at the end of round 6. During the second half of the fight; James started to fight more defensively as Ugas was able to go in and out when needed and land right hands to the head. Yordenis Ugas improved to 16-3 (7 KO), and previously unbeaten Jamal James fell to 20-1 (9 KO).
